UN HQ New York

Immediately after Dayton 1999, Peter (ON6TT) and myself had some meetings in New York with some of the UN

agencies. While there, we of course had to see if there was any possibility to operate from the 4U1UN station. Due to some previous trouble at the station there are serious restrictions on the access these days. Since both me and Peter are UN field staff we where able to get permission to operate. Since we had so short time there (only one evening) we could not arrange any serious operation.

To be able to get 2 stations running we had to disable the NCXDF beacon so we could use the antenna for the second station. Between us we made a thousand contacts before closing down.

There is both a Kenwood 950SDX and a 940 for the station, both with TL-922 Amps. The only working antenna is the Vertical for the NCDXF Beacon. Since there is only 2 hams currently in the UN headquarters there is not too much activity to keep the station up to speed.
